Welcome. In Osaka there are currently two full-time, in-house positions available: Experienced Translator and Translator/Technical Writer. Please take a look at the job information and complete our online application form.

Experienced Translator
This position is at our head office production center in Osaka which is just 15 minutes walk from Hommachi or Shinsaibashi station on the Midosuji line in Osaka.
 
The job

Translation and technical writing.
We specialize in controllers and related digital control equipment and produce a range of documents such as datasheets, users manuals, and catalogs related to these technologies. This job involves working in a small translation team doing both translation and checking/editing work

You'll work closely with our production manager and senior technical editor.

Computer system and software
  You'll use a networked Windows workstation for production work and for accessing our on-line production control systems and for communicating with your co-workers in Japan, Australia, and USA.
Primarily you'll use Trados translation software but sometimes you may be asked to edit using technical documentation software such as FrameMaker and Illustrator. You'll also use MSWord and sometimes other MSOffice tools.
Qualifications
  We are looking for a professional, experienced translator able to maintain our reputation for quality and speed. Our minimum requirement is two to three years of full-time technical translation experience.
Salary and Conditions
  Salary is very competitive and will be in-line with your experience and ability. Working conditions include a 40-hour, Monday-to-Friday week with flexible start and finish times. (Most of our staff begin work at 9:30AM). Normal Japanese public holidays and work conditions and benefits apply. We treat everyone as an individual and as far as possible, make adjustments to suit each person's personal requirements.

Translator/Technical Writer in Osaka

The job

Translation and technical writing.
Our field is electronic equipment and software, especially factory automation equipment. Typically you'll do the following:

  • check and complete user's manuals and operation guides which have been translated by out-of-house staff
  • translate revisions and make corrections directly into the body of existing manuals
  • translate small urgent jobs. E.g., with same-day deadlines.

You'll work closely with our production manager and senior technical editor.

Computer system and software
  You'll use a networked Windows workstation for production work and for accessing our on-line production control systems and for communicating with your co-workers in Japan, Australia, and USA.

Qualifications
  You should have at least one years' experience as a translator in at least one of the electronics, computer hardware or software, or related fields.
Training
  Training is on-the-job. We will give you short (e.g., several hours) individual training sessions on various topics initially and then later as required. Such topics will include the systems and software packages you'll use, the subject matter you'll translate, and various background sessions on our clients' requirements.
